In the early 2000s, when I was in my early twenties, I used to pass through this area with my father, while going to get wood. Every evening we used to stop by the home of the man who lived on the property at the time. We shared a glass of wine and had a little chat. I immediately fell in love with the immensity of the greenery that surrounded it and the sun that illuminated it all day long. I was struck by an idea: I wanted to buy this place and turn it into a holiday home with my partner Elisa.
This project was madness to our families, so I waited. I kept working in my parents’ restaurant, where Elisa joined me.
The years went by quickly: we got married and ran the restaurant. We were doing well. But once I got over a very difficult period for me, I realized that it wasn’t enough. I came back here after a long time, and I realized that the flame, that dream I had, was still alive. That was the right moment to turn our lives around.
Marco’s enthusiasm hits me like a hurricane. Once I saw this place, I began to imagine our future here. We finally bought the property in 2016 after several obstacles, some of which seemed insurmountable. We started working. The old man was no longer there, and everything was abandoned. Nature had regained her place and covered what was left of the masonry parts.
The planning, the construction, the discussions with all of the experts who worked with us, the challenges: over the last few years we had to face all of these so that we could bring to life what was already real in our minds and dreams.
